This post is supposed to be a bit of a guide for new players or for people making alts, and don’t want to forget the important stuff. It has two sections, one for early game stuff and a second for general info people may want to reference. Keep in mind this is essentially for players 4-10 in the early section. Players are free to add to it, just keep in mind the lack of items/money that a new player would have access to. For the General section, it just contains general info you wish you’d known on your first play through or want to remember when it comes Alt time. I’ll update this post as i see other things added. *Note : Unless specified, this assumes mostly solo play. Group play may or may not be covered by everything below.
EARLY:
---- Choose your gathering skill, unlike the CBT’s, the game now allows this to be selected at level 4, so as soon as you get inside of Meiville and select your new bind point, have this on your to-do list.
---- Get your Astel packs for achievements, this may be the single MOST important thing you can do, early game. You can get an Astel as high as 5* (star) from doing the below, so well worth the time/effort.:
1st when you enter the town of Meiville, after doing the first dungeon. You should have some coin by this point. You’ll need 1500 Asper (aka Gold). Make sure you pawn the stuff in your Misc tab, its junk/vendor fodder. Go to the Accessory merchant after you clear your inventory of weapons/armor, if you have any excess outside of the lvl1 items, feel free to dismantle them, you’ll need it later. If you haven’t dismantled anything yet, then buy 100 of the 15Asper rings, and dismantle them all. Obviously you can only do at most 30 at a time. So do it 3 times and then buy 10 and dismantle those. You’ll get the achievement which gives an Astel card pack. Open it and pray to RNJesus that you get something good.
This may need to come as you get closer to level 10, as you’ll need to have a bit of coin and have dismantled some items already. If you did the above, you may have to do a bit more, but it wont take many dismantles to get there. Go back to the same vendor and make the same purchases, same way, 100 total. Enchant each of them by +1, then sell or dismantle at your choosing. This keeps the cost low and you wont waste much in the way of enhancement stones. While early game Asper is at a premium, selling it will only net 1Asper. The choice is up to you.
You’ll also get one for having been logged in on a character for 10 hours, 100 potions used and 1000 kills.
---- When in doubt about what to do during a quest, " F " it. If you’ve already moved to the location but you dont see anything, hit " F ", It doesn’t matter if it’s a cauldron, a book or a key that you need, F’ing it is the way to go!
---- Knowing the primary two stats you should focus on by class is helpful for early game. I’ll list the primary two for early game, keep in mind this info is based on solo play which the majority of people do during the early game. Some stats have more importance in later levels cause you end up having the stats needed to make full use of them. While there can be some arguments for which stats are the “best”, in the early game these will give better and consistent results, as the gear giving them gives them in small amounts. It’s important to have a good base for sustained damage to kill things, the stats below will help new characters achieve them, as a dead mob does no damage. One final note about the stats below, it is assumed you are also using the right Astel for what you are fighting (EG: DPS, don’t tank the dungeon boss, summon a knight Astel like Rota) :
Warrior - Str & Con: Str for damage and Con for the staying power needed as DPS isn’t as high as a DPS class.
Scholar - Wil & Int: Wil for healing and DoT damage, Int for magic damage.
Assassin - Dex & Str: Dex for the higher crit rate and Str to have good sustained as well as adding to higher damage from crits.
Archer - Dex & Str: Dex for the higher crit rate and Str to have good sustained as well as adding to higher damage from crits.
Mage - Int & Kno: Int for magic damage and Kno for higher crit rate.
GENERAL:
----Astel just keeps showing a “loading” marker above their heads, and they wont attack? Hit " H " to put them back into combat enabled mode. Also of note, for the more squishy Astellians who need their Astel’s to get agro first, hit " R " to make them attack to get that initial agro.
----If it’s crowded in the area, and you’re running into too many players trying to complete the same quest, switch channels, right above the Map. Also, some people turned on the Map overlay which “blocks the screen”, hit " N ", to turn it off, if desired.
----Before moving to a new area, ALWAYS check your map for important Quests. Important quests are generally one of two things: Astel’s or Treasure items, both of which are MUST HAVES. Use the map filter to disable everything but them before you move on, especially if you are going to be moving to the next major city.
----Keep your Astels on the bar to level them, even if you don’t plan to use them. If you have empty space, which you will in the beginning, there’s no reason not to level them up.
----Don’t forget you can setup chains for abilities. Just make sure the bottom has some sort of cooldown on it, if it has no cooldown you’ll never see the ones above it. You can do this for up to 4 skills, saves slots in the long run. Left click the skill to expand it, place up to 4 in the slots. Generally speaking, highest cooldown first unless it chains with other skills to give a specific effect. A final note, the top row ctrl+# does not have quick slots for multiple skills.
----Skills can be upgraded, don’t forget to do this. Which is best? Depends on how you play, sometimes a faster cooldown is worth it, sometimes more damage is. Having a mix of both to give a specific result for a chain (see above) can be very helpful and get you those efficient kills for time and mana used. Also there is no reason to worry, you can reset these outside of combat, anytime. So experiment!
----Enhancement of a specific piece of gear even at low level, if it has good stats for the class you’re playing, enhancing it to +5 shouldn’t be a problem. There’s no risk of it failing & down grading, and it’s fairly cheap to do so even for items that are rare (blue quality) or below.
----Don’t be afraid to add Runes to gear, you can always pull them out later and use em again.
----As above, but with Star Jewels, no reason not to add them to an Astel, even if you dont regularly use the Astel. It saves you space, and you can later remove them and have plenty for trying to combine for upgrades. Just make sure not to “commit” them by clicking enhance, just put em in the slot, you’ll get the bonus.
----You can downgrade items for crafting, using Raw Material Dismantling section. (EX: Turn Intermediate Leather into Common Leather)
----Colosseum/Arena opens at level 30, make sure you do it daily, you’ll need the coins/rewards soon enough.
----Colosseum, Astels dont use AP normally, SUMMON 3, and keep em the whole fight (Yes, even Guardian Astels).
---- **Treasures are UNIQUE for being WORN *** , you can have more than one of the same type in inventory but only one of them can be worn.
So no wearing 2x Golem Cores or 2x Modena’s Skull.
Can of course, wear one of each.
I’ll add things as i think of more, or if people add useful information players may want to know.
Hope this was useful to you.
